Why is it that despite as much as the makers want to shove him down my throat, it is still the image of Pierce Brosnan that comes to my mind, the moment you think of Bond. Maybe it is just the mind that still refuses to erase the memory that has been clogged up in some part of my puny little skull due to years of seeing the Irishman. But the fact remains, that Daniel Craig is ‘Bond... James Bond’ (Now was I dying to get that out of my system, or what?)

If media reports are to be believed (& I generally say one should not, especially when it regards to movies) then the latest Bond is on his way to do 4 more Bond flicks. Now if my memory serves me correct, then he initially signed a deal for only 3 movies (Yes, I still would like to see him go, you can call me what you want) Now, I would have been a happy camper if he stuck to his initial contract, but seems like the producers are all too happy with him. It is still unclear if next 4 movies mean including or excluding Bond 22. (& I hope it is included)

Daniel has already had phenomenal success with Casino Royale & I have personally nothing against the guy. Some say he redefined Bond as a muscular blonde, but I still feel characters adapted to the screen from a novel must stick to the writer’s original portrayal. How would it look if Superman was in green & yellow or Batman came out in red? Well, you say he was great walking out of the waters in trunks, I say leave that part to Halle Berry please! (Yes, I’m not speaking from a girl’s perspective). Let’s see where the story goes from here.

Nicole Kidman’s forthcoming flick ‘The Golden Compass’ has made the Christian groups furious out of the fear that the movie would promote atheism in children. The Christian critics of the movie concede that the film itself is harmless but since it is based on a book that celebrates the virtues of atheism, it would inspire the children to read the book and other such books. And that would have a bad influence on them.

The movie is based on the first novel of Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ trilogy. According to many critics it is the story of a girl’s attempt to kill God. Catholic League’s president Bill Donohue said,

These books denigrate Christianity, thrash the Catholic Church and sell the virtues of atheism...They’re intentionally watering down the most offensive element. I’m not really concerned about the movie, which looks fairly innocuous. The movie is made from the books...It’s a deceitful, stealth campaign. Pullman is hoping his books will fly off the shelves at Christmas time.

It is reported, the religious theme in the movie has been kept to a minimum in the movie by the producers (New Line Cinema) of the movie. Apparently it wasn’t enough precaution. According to the producers the movie is a fantasy tale of courage, responsibility, freedom and love. The Nicole Kidman starer is slated for release on December 7 this year.

Universal pictures released the first set of pictures for its upcoming movie- Wanted. Wanted is due to be released in early soon. Wanted is based on a graphic comics series by the same name. The comic series was written by Mark Millar and the graphics were by JG Jones. The comic series is about a protagonist who discovers that he is destined to be a super villain in a world that has been taken over by villains.

The movie, is not exactly like the comic, is somewhat built on its backdrop. In the movie, James McAvoy - the nicest of all Scottish people enacts Wes. Wes is shown as an unaffected office guy who is hated by his boss and is ignored by his girl friend. This carries on until he meets Angelina Jolie, who enacts the role of Fox- the assassin.
After Wes’s father dies, Fox decides to recruit Wes in a secret fraternity that teaches teaches the guy lightning reflexes, supersonic speed and irresistible sexiness. But, there is more to the fraternity than what appears.

What follows is a brilliant action series with both McAvoy and Angelina showing their style and agility. The director is known to have pulled off such brilliance in action in the past and this movie promises to be another teaser for the Christmas weekend.

The People magazine renetly reported that American actress Jessica Simpson’s movie ‘Blonde Ambition’ is going to be released in the theatres at Texas on 21st December, 2007. Initially it was pressumed that only the DVD version of the movie will be launched starightaway in January next year. The production company in charge of the release of this so-called porn movie said,

It is being released in this crowded marketplace in eight theaters in Texas The reason we chose Texas is the two stars are from Texas: Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson. As an independent studio, we, as a rule, don’t have major wide releases. It’s a very common release practice for independent studios.

The production house is immensely excited about the outcome of this movie and has promised not to disappoint Jessica fans across the world. ‘Blonde Amition’ is jokingly considered as a cinematic masterpiece in the actress’s film career. To add to the ridicule, subsequent to this report, people are mockingly speculating about Jessica’s Oscar nomination next year.
The same production company has completed another film with the American pop/country singer/actor, Jessica, which is named ‘Major Movie Star’ and is slated for release in 2008.
There is a general discontent among the people of Texas, as they are reluctant to sacrifice an additional screening of the movie ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ for this Jessica film. They unanimously opine that this film should be screened only for the perverted minds in pornographic theatres.

For long Hollywood writers have been underpaid and cruelly muscled out into the sidelines. But things have started to change in the movie industry and the balance of power appears to be shifting.

On Monday, just after the clock struck midnight, the writers’ strike commenced. About 12,000 movie and television writers bruised and battered by decades of underpayment and injustice, marched on the sidewalks of Los Angeles in a bid to change the way income is divided at the moment.

The writers are represented by the Writers Guild of America and have already gathered some much needed momentum. This is the first time that the writers have gone on strike in almost 20 years and this time, things appear much brighter and optimistic than they were in 1988. With more members and a tremendous unity, the Writers Guild of America is certainly looking to take the bull by the horns.

The strike is expected to last for almost 10 months should the producers do not start conceding to the writers. Late-night talk shows and soap operas have already been hit and in no time the producers could be searching for alternatives to fill the regular slots for television shows and serials.

The presence of big names such as writer-director James L. Brooks and NBC’s 30 Rock creator Tina Fey has boosted the objective of the association, which is to claw out deserved money and respect from the producers’ pockets. The writers’ demands for a share in the income generated from the new media are justified. Millions of money is engendered as a result of online film release, downloading and podcasting but the writers are ruthlessly kept distant from the profit. This time though, things could take a different turn as the writers, having been crippled for so long, have gathered together to wrestle justice.

I always wondered if there’s a movie that can win it all i.e. win all the awards. I guess I was kind of right. Here’s one such movie. ‘There will be Blood’ seems to have won the heart and the minds of the audience. The drama was nominated for multiple awards at the 2007 Movie Critics Awards.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, this is an unique blend of old Western and drama. The movie advertises that there will be greed and vengeance. Finally, there will be blood. The story is based on a Texas family. The aspects of greed, violence, demand for oil, as well as religion have been captured pretty well in this movie.

This is probably one of the happiest moments of Paul Anderson. The drama about one man discovering oil and building a pipeline has touched many critics. It received the following awards: The Best Director, Actor, Cinematography, Music. So, it is clear that ‘There will be blood’ is the year’s best all around movie. Daniel Day Lewis has done an awesome job of acting out this Sinclair novel. The drama ruled the NYC film circle.

Though his job is that to solve relationship issues Dan himself witnesses downfalls as a brother, son and a single parent. Shot in different pockets of the Rhode Island the movie will be much awaited by many across the globe.

When a movie about relationships hits the silver screen it touches the deepest chords of many viewers. Hollywood has in the past churned out some of the most deep impacting movies on relationships. ‘Dan in Real Life’ definitely proves to be one that will try to strike a sense of relativity with the audience hoping that it creates a long lasting impact in the minds, hearts and lives of millions.

That’s the question Madonna has been asking herself ever since her 11 year old daughter with former fitness trainer Carlos Leon was offered a role in the next Harry Potter film, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’.

With a celebrity mother, and an independent love for dancing and the stage, it was perhaps just a matter of time before the young Lola made her debut in tinsel town.

She has already been flooded with film offers and sponsors, and Madonna, perhaps with the natural concern of a mother, admits that though this was inevitable, she feels that Lola is still not ready for her launch into showbiz.

Lourdes is a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, and is keen to take up the offer. Till such time as she actually makes her decision, the world will have to wait.
