superman returns

Michaels Dougherty & Dan Harris, who were supposed to have scripted ‘Superman Returns’, seem to have chosen not to do so. (Hmm...Think good old Lex Luthor is behind this sudden change of heart? Maybe he didn’t want Superman to return again & can we blame him for that!) The two writers, who penned down the original in the summer of 2006, were supposed to work along with Bryan Singer on the sequel. Seems as if that plan is now all but gone. The writers seem to be more interested in pursuing their own directorial ventures. (Why? Why would anyone not want to script Superman?)

This has forced Warner Bros. to try rope in others to do the job for them. Right now, it seems as if the company is in a bit of spot. Now Hollywood’s rumor mill is on about how WB intends to start all over again with the Superman persona & wants to act as if the 2006 flick never ever happened. This is assigned to the fact that the grand re-entry the movie made in 2006 was in fact not as fancy as WB thought it would be. It made only $200 million at home & $191 million overseas.

Anyway, WB denies all such rumors & says that Brandon Ruth will once again take on the mantle of the man who is “faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound’ (That was his true description, if you remember). For those who are confused, let me put it in a simple phrase; same guy plays superman again. Happy kids?

Well, all I can say at this point is that maybe the writers are gone but Superman will return (Yup, I can already see Lex crying). By the way if Warner Bros. want a great, brilliant, reliable (well mostly) & exceptional writer, they know where to find him. (I mean ‘pick me’) & since we are talking about WB, I can’t help but leave you with the single most famous super hero WB produced. Bugs of course, who else!
