A supernatural thriller film ‘The Messenger,’ directed by Pang Brothers debuted as the top weekend movie with $14.5 million in ticket sales.

The film is all about a frightening haunted house in North Dakota, and the Solomon family is torn apart by suspicion, mayhem, and murder.

It stars Kristen Stewart, Graham Bell, John Corbett, William B. Davis, Dylan McDermott and Penelope Ann Miller.

Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore’s mother-daughter comedy ‘Because I Said So,’ earned second position at the box office with the universal release taking in $13 million.

Previous weekend’s No. 1 flick, 20th Century Fox’s ‘Epic Movie,’ slipped to third place with $8.2 million, raising its 10-day total to $29.4 million.

‘Night At the Museum’ skipped to fourth place grossing $6.75 million following ‘Smoking Aces’ at fifth place with $6.3 million.

‘Stomp The Yard’ was at sixth position earning $4.2 million and ‘Dreamgirls’ earned $4 million.

Academy Award competitors sustained grossing a $2.7 million weekend for ‘The Queen’. ‘The Departed’ earned $2.3 million and ‘Babel’ and ‘Letters From Iwo Jima’ grossed $1.7 million each.
