People who were at the screening of Shekhar Kapur’s film The Golden Age at the Toronto International Film Festival are in for a little surprise. The Bottom which they thought were Cate Blanchett’s assets actually belonged to someone else.
The story was revealed when Cate Blanchett, who plays Queen Elizabeth I in the film, spoke to The Daily Mail just after the world premiere screening of the film. There is a brief scene in the film where the director wanted her to bare her backside, but Cate refused it right away. This prompted the director to hire a body double to appear in the 20 seconds nude scene. The Daily Mail quoted Cate as saying,
Shekhar had his reasons, but I wasn’t convinced. The bottom seen in the film is not mine. It looks very nice, but it doesn’t belong to me. Only my husband sees my bum.
Meanwhile, the film has generated a pretty positive response from those who have seen its premiere. Director Shekhar Kapur was right when he said that the film’s about a lot more than bare bums.
