superbad

The 2007 comedy movie Superbad directed by Greg Mottola and produced by Judd Apatow, has notched up $31m in its first week of release. The earnings are amazing indeed, more so because the movie has cost only $20m to make.

Superbad, is the latest hit comedy for producer Judd Apatow after movies like The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up. With the immense success of Superbad, Judd Apatow has confirmed his Midas touch in producing low budget R-rated movies.

The movie Superbad, follows the journey of two high-school seniors Evan (Michael Cera) and Seth (Jonah Hill) in their quest to lose their virginity before their term ends. This movie revolves around their comic misadventures as they try and get the girls of their dreams.

Though, Superbad has all the trappings of a love story where the boys are trying to woo the girls, it is hardly one, in fact, it is heavily steeped in men’s bathroom humor.

Apatow said,

the humor quotient of the key actors - Hill, Cera, Rogen, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Bill Hader - was more important to the success of “Superbad” than casting known performers.

So, if you want to watch a sexy teen comedy, go ahead and watch Superbad!
