sundance film festival 2006The Sundance Film Festival this year was full of pleasant surprises. The entire event was flocked with uncountable number of movies conveying messages to the society which brought back fresh memories to all the audiences and others present of the 1970’s movies which were produced not only to entertain the audience but also to pass on some message to them.

2006 Sundance was an occasion to remember. Some of the industry watchers say that it is a trend that is in again. The producers today are trying to re-create the past.

In my words, I would say that is the beginning of a whole new movement. It is largely believed to be the fan force which has resulted in this renaissance.

This trend is pretty evident in some of the Oscar contenders like, Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain, a gay movie, which throws light on the homosexual dilemma faced by the gay community at large. Independent movies are now making a great come back with full gear.

Ex- US secretary for Agriculture, Glickman said that independent movies “the intellectual fertiliser of the movie industry of the future.

“It’s where ideas come from, it’s where thinking comes from,” he said.

We would just wish that this new phenomenon keep up with the same pace for ever. This is surely gonna make watching Hollywood movies all the more interesting.
