Manoj Night Shyamalan is looking for a triumphant comeback with his new film The Happening. The celebrated Hollywood director of Indian origin is currently experiencing a low phase with the failure of his last film Lady In The Water.
Lady In The Water, released last year, was an ambitious project for Shyamalan, but the film failed drastically at the box-office and was able to generate a meagre ticket sales of less than $80 million. Incidentally, Shyamalan had a split with longtime studio partner Buena Vista shortly before the release last year. He showed faith in Warner Bros instead, which proved unlucky for him.
Shyamalan who hit an all-time low following the debacle is eyeing for a triumphant comeback with his new project titled The Happening.
The Happening is a paranoia thriller starring Mark Wahlberg as a science teacher whose family flees an apocalyptic force threatening humanity. The Shooting will commence in Philadelphia in August and will be released through 20th Century Fox on Friday the 13th in June 2008.
Shyamalan is a director of great calibre and has grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide over the years by churning out some of the most successful films in recent times which include The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs.
Lets hope for Shyamalan that he gets back his golden pedestal with The Happening.
