An Oscar winning actor Russell Crow has been lined up to star sheriff of Nottingham in a new version of Robin Hood.
Russell will assume the role played by Alan Rickman in the 1991 film ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ with a totally different aspect of traditional take on the medieval account.
You’ll find sheriff as a more positive character who investigates the midlands town’s murders contradicting the worthy hero Robin who faces his own failings.
Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, writer Ethan Reiff commented,
Part of the strength of the script was the simple idea of doing Robin Hood by making the Sheriff the good guy.
Universal Pictures have won the rights to the film which will begin shooting towards the end of the year.
Russell Crowe, a three-time Oscar nominee, won the Academy Award as Best Actor in 2001 for Gladiator. He also received three consecutive best actor Oscar nominations for ‘The Insider’, ‘Gladiator’ and ‘A Beautiful Mind.’
