With several laurels such as The Golden Globe to his credit for the script of The Queen, Oscar nominated screenwriter, Peter Morgan has now began working on a sequel of the Oscar-winning film.
Reportedly, this sequel will revolve around the relationship of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair with US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush.
The film will focus on Blair’s reaction when the US presidency was handed over from Clinton, a Democrat who had a natural political affinity with the Labour PM, to the Republican and conservative Bush, who can from the opposite end of the political spectrum.
With this project, Morgan would complete his trilogy on Blair, which began with The Deal, a 2003 television drama about the power-sharing deal between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown that was struck in the Granita restaurant in London.
Then followed The Queen, a 2006 movie starring Helen Mirren that showed the impact of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales on the British royal family.
The film represents an intimate, behind-the -scenes interaction between the Queen and Tony Blair over Princess’s Diana’s death.
And now, the new project on which Morgan has began his research, will describe the special relationship between the US and the UK.
It is reported that Michael Sheen will portray the role of Blair again, but it is not ascertained that Hellen Mirren will step into the shoes of The Queen once again.
