peter weirOne of the most beautiful Island destinations of India, Andaman and Nicobar Island is gearing up for the boost in the tourism sector. The authorities are hopeful that with the filming of the Hollywood movie by the Oscar Winner, Peter Weir, the islands economy will develop considerably.



The director himself along with a select body of seven members has flown down personally to Havelock Island to decide on the locations. The Havelock island officials are very much optimistic about the employment boon that this movie gonna provide it with. This also will prove to be a boon for the tourism industry as well.



Based on the prize winning novel ‘Shantaram’ by George David Roberts, the cast will include the great Hollywood actor and Oscar winner Johnny Depp, Russel Crowe and Emma Watson.



Johnny Depp besides playing one of the leading roles will be producing the movie. Director Peter Weir is regarded as an influential and powerful man with his solid direction of creating very much thematic and society based movies with focus mainly on the conflicting social changes.
