Ever since its been made official, the upcoming movie ‘Sex and the City’ based on the Emmy-winning HBO Television series has created a huge buzz amongst the viewers. Reports have now confirmed that the New York Mayor- Michael Bloomberg will give an appearance as himself in the movie.

The Mayor will be filmed in the movie at Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan. Little is known about details of the Mayor’s role apart from his confirmed presence in the movie. ‘Sex and the City’ the hit television series which saw its last in 2004 after six rivetting seasons was based on the work of best selling author Candace Bushnell.
Fans of this series will be awaiting to see Sarah Jesicca Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon reprise their respective roles as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. Bloomberg seems to be following in the footsteps of former Mayor Ed Koch. Koch appeared in an episode of Sex and the City in 2001 where he played himself. Along with this, the former Mayor has made dozens of appearances in television and films. Predecessor of Bloomberg and U.S. presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani has also appeared in television series like ‘Law and Order’ and ‘Seinfeld’.
It looks more like a trend amongst Mayor’s to add television and film appearances to their list of credentials. This definitely shows a lighter side of the officials and puts them under spotlight not only for their services to th nation but also by appearing as star guests.
