The Hollywood movie, ‘Memoirs of a Geisha‘, which is not yet released in the big screen is in troubled waters.
Caught up in a political fiasco, the film is waiting for permission from the Chinese government for its chance to be screened in the theatres.
No ban has been declared on the movie but according to some reports from the state’s leading newspapers, the Chinese government fears that the films use of Chinese actress for depiction of the Japanese geisha’s might give rise to a public disapproval.
The governments’ apprehension is true to a great extent as the movie discusses some very sensitive issue which might cause mass disruption if the movie is granted approval to be shown in the halls.
Produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Rob Marshall, the Chinese people had high expectations coz this is a big budget Hollywood movie which will have some of the terrific Asian actors taking the lead roles.
The media is flying with rumors that the movie which scheduled to be released in Jan 9 is delayed so long due a sex scene.
The media guys are also saying that it is doubtful that when the movie’s gonna get the green signal, coz it is not even in the distributing list of China Film groups.
