The Cannes Fest this year honored one of the veteran Hollywood director’s movies. British director Ken Loach’s ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ won the top prize at the Cannes, the coveted Palme d’ Or.
Director Loach had been nominated for the Palme d’ Or seven times, however, this is the first time that he has bagged the main prize.
Loach’s touching movie highlights the struggle of Ireland to gain its independence in the early 1920’s.
This movie easily beat 19 other movies to take in the top honor. All the jury members voted unanimously for Loach’s Irish saga.
