It’s time for big celebration for the ‘Pretty Woman’ star Julia Roberts. The Oscar winning actress who has been winning hearts and minds of people with her stunning performances for decades, finally grabs big recognition for all her work. Roberts has been named the winner of the 2007 American Cinematheque award, an award that honors career achievements. Last year, the actress presented this award to Hollywood hunk George Clooney, but this time she herself is on the receiving end of this honor.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Roberts has been selected as the 22nd recipient of the award, and the award giving ceremony will take place on October 12 at the Cinematheque’s annual benefit gala at the Beverly Hilton.
Cinematheque board Chairman Rick Nicita said,
Julia Roberts is a true movie star who has delighted audiences and critics in so many pictures, from her first screen appearance in ‘Mystic Pizza’ through megahits like ‘Pretty Woman’ and ‘Runaway Bride’ to her Academy Award-winning performance in ‘Erin Brockovich’ and many, many more.
The honor is presented to one actor, director or writer every year. Celebrities like Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman have been honored at the ceremony every year since its foundation in 1986.
