The 1974 film ‘Chinatown’ will see a sequel to it very soon. The classic starring Jack Nicholson has recently confirmed that he will be in the sequel as well. This news was broken to the MTV, where Jack not only confirmed his presence in the movie but also mentioned about what the movie would be all about. The news also has it that writer Robert Towne would be in it probably if Paramount Pictures were to make it.

According to the veteran actor, there was always a plan to make three films like a trilogy where they wanted to tie into elemental things like ‘Chinatown’ is for water, ‘The Two Jakes’ is fire & energy and the third movie was to be related to air. Jack Nicholson plays the character of Gittes in all the movies where the trilogy shows his life and interpreting the elements of nature. None will forget the climax of ‘Chinatown’, one of the most widely spoken about endings in a movie. But after this gap, one would wonder if the actor is ready to get back into the shoes of Gittes where his divorce will be featured.
Commenting upon the movie and his return to the sequel Jack said,
I can tell you it was meant to be set in 1968 when no-fault divorce went into effect in California. The title was to be “Gittes vs. Gittes.” It was to be about Gittes’ divorce. The secrecy of Meg Tilly’s character was somehow to involve the most private person in California, Howard Hughes. That is where the air element would have come into the picture. ‘I certainly would consider it. I would imagine Bob would as well. [But the second film’s behind-the-scenes problems] left a few bruises. I don’t know how Paramount would be. The timing is about right.
Jack Nicholson who has been in the business for a long time now has made a great impact in the minds of cinegoers. His acting has been exceptional ever since his entry in the industry and he is most recognized for his dialogue deliveries which are marvelous. This thespian will always been cherished on the screen for his acting and his presence. Fans and admirers of this superstar will be waiting to see him on screen again and again. A slight glimpse of the superstar will be loved by all those who have been in his list of admirers. This is surely good news though for everyone that the Chinatown trilogy would be completed and would have the lead as Nicholson itself.
