Universal studios is negotiating with Warner’s to set up a Harry Potter theme park in its Orlando resort. The negotiations are not being made public and are being maintained as a top secret.
After the success that Harry Potter has witnessed in the market, a themed amusement park will be a cash cow for universal. Harry Potter inspired video games and other merchandise are already a hit in the kids market.
Bill Davis, president of Universal Orlando Resort, was questioned in February this year by the Orlando Sentinel about the possibility of a Harry Potter attraction to which he replied,
Boy, I think that would be great. I can’t talk about what we’re going to be bringing to either one of our parks in the future. That’s a forward-looking thing we can’t discuss. I will tell you we’re working hard to bring innovative, new technologically-advanced attractions to both of our parks.
Back in 2005, there were rumors that Walt Disney Co. wanted to create a Harry Potter theme park somewhere in Singapore. Walt Disney even tried to negotiate with J.K Rowling and Warner’s to secure theme park rights for the complex, but the project never materialized.
