Fans of Harry Potter must be relishing the fact with glee. Films such as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are always expected to amass awards at the major movie festivals and the fifth film in the hugely popular Harry Potter series is no different.
The David Yates-directed movie has been nominated for the Best Feature film at this year’s BAFTA Children’s Awards and is tipped by several movie critics to win the award too. The film is based on the fifth novel of the J K Rowling written Harry Potter book series and centers on Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger trying to convince everyone at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that the evil Lord Voldemort is back.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the sixth-highest grossing film of all time and should it indeed stave off the competition for the Best Film category at the BAFTA awards, it won’t be the first time that the film or its actors has been awarded. Emma Watson, who plays the role of Hermione, was adjudged as the best movie actress at the first ever Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award UK.
But the competition at the BAFTA Children’s Awards would be tough. The stiffest competition would come from the Oscar winning animation movie Happy Feet. Flushed away and Bridge to Terabithia are not expected to be that tough in terms of competition for the top honours but the other summer blockbusters such as Spiderman-3 and Shrek the Third would be tough competitors.
