This years Environmental Media Association Award for the best feature film was bestowed upon the dancing penguins of ‘Happy Feet’. This was the seventeenth time the EMA awards were held in a row on October 24th . Considered as one of the most inspiring and eco friendly movies which delivers ecological uplifting and informative message, this Warner Bros picture production seemed to be the deserving winner of the maximum glory. The main reason for the success of the movie at the EMA awards this year is considered the informative message that has been passed on to the viewers especially the campaign to stop commercial over fishing of the Antarctic.

Happy Feet emerged victorious leaving behind close competition from movies like ‘Evan Almighty’, ‘Fast Food Nation’ and ‘Miss Potter’. Amongst the victorious in the prestigious night stood Sienna Miller who was granted the Futures Awards for outstanding contribution in raising awareness of harmful effects of global warming. Bestowed with the Outstanding Achievement Award and the Pepsi Mission in Music Award were former U.S. vice president Al Gore and rock band Incubus respectively.
With environmental awareness being the prime reason for having such an annual festival felicitating those in the industry who contribute towards the environment, the EMA also honours creative teams behind TV and Film productions and musicians. The EMA Awards this year saw the show being hosted by Joel McHale of E! Entertainments ‘The Soup’ which is slated for a November 7th release on E! and BBC international.
Felicitating the best in media who have contributed towards the overall awareness of environmental issues, the EMA awards is definitely unique and one of its kind. By recognizing those who make notable contributions in improving the environment from the fast paced world of media, these awards give a lot of encouragement for many to continue the great work and inspire many others to kick start their campaigns.
