There is nothing quite watching two people make sweet love to one another. It gives us all hope that some day, we will finally be able to begin a sufficiently heartfelt way to get someone else to want to form the best with two backs with us. How ever, a lot of times in movies, sexy shower scenes seem like nothing but an excuse to fill up screen time, and grant a little bit of titillation to the teenage male viewers who… to put it politely, they would seem to be willing to set down the remote for a moment for other activities.
While the shower scene in “Psycho” was a grand visual representation of a moment of utmost vulnerability mixed with the deranged ferocity of a mad man, most movie scenes, which take place inside a shower, are not nearly so illustrative. And to be honest, that scene was only slightly necessary, as the plot went. When a scene is just two people rutting away, knock over their bathroom accessories and throwing each other against the tiled walls of the shower, as the water bounces off of their naked, writhing bodies… well, it is great fun, but it does not seem all that necessary to the goal of advancing any sort of story line.
It is hard to imagine any sort of scene that takes place inside of a shower, where anything happens is truly relevant to the movie’s plot. Take time to wonder about how much plot clarification you can actually receive by watching some one get murdered, or two people have sexual relations, or some woman who seems extremely intent on cleaning her upper torso. Most likely, you too will independently come to the conclusion that the whole “shower scene” thing is just a silly contrivance and time filler.
