
The teen thriller ‘Disturbia’ won the North American box office for a second weekend leaving behind crime drama ‘Fracture’ and the hotel horror ‘Vacancy.’
According to studio estimates issued yesterday, ‘Disturbia’ sold US$13.5 million worth of tickets in the three days beginning April 20, taking its 10-day haul to US$40.7 million.
The film produced by DreamWorks and released by Paramount Pictures starring Shia LaBeouf as a teen who suspects a neighbour of murder, ruled the box office or a second straight weekend.
While, ‘Fracture'’ starring Anthony Hopkins debuted at No. 2 with $11.2 million.
The comedy ‘Blades of Glory’ starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder, was No. 3 with $7.8 million in its fourth weekend to cross the $100 million mark.
Sony Screen Gems’ horror flick ‘Vacancy,’ starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson checked in at No. 4 with US$7.6 million.
The British cop spoof ‘Hot Fuzz’ captured No.6 position with US$5.8 million and the he female-centric drama ‘In the Land of Women’ opened at No. 8 with a modest US$4.9 million.
‘Perfect Stranger’ and ‘Wild Hogs’ was at No.9 and No.10 with US$4.1 million and US$2.9 million respectively.
