Keith Allen, now appears to go the Boris Becker way — old, abandoned children are galloping out of cupboards these days and the British celebrity is lost for words. It’s hard to ignore the gossip surrounding the father of British pop singer Lily Allen at the moment and the fact is that the end to the story is miles away.
It’s not that uncommon for celebrities to have sex at wild night parties, but it’s not too common for a celebrity to father a child and then abandon it. The hugely successful and quite popular Keith Allen has been accused of doing exactly that. A 16-year old black girl named Gala has sent a ripple of shock by coming out of the closet and declaring that Keith is her actual father.
As expected, her tale centers on loss, bereavement and abandonment. Her mother, Angela Talbott, first met Keith at the Jonathan Ross’ interview and their love affair clicked from there. Although both were happy at the time and, as Angela remarks, were pretty much serious about their relationship, eventually the couple felt the going tough.
Keith began to lose interest in Angela soon after she revealed about her pregnancy to him and although Keith Allen did venture on to take financial care of his daughter in the beginning, he refused to marry Angela or give any legal status to her.
So, 16 years of hardship and pangs of betrayal by both mother and daughter have been released like a volcanic eruption in one daring moment. Yet the Allen family still refuses to accept them. Both Angela and her daughter Gala allege that it is their colour, which is black, that is stopping Keith Allen from coming out and admitting the truth.
It’s hard to say how much grains of truth there is in Angela and Gala Talbott’s allegations but it can be safely said that the Allen family is having none of it.
