daniel-radcliffe 2263Daniel Radcliffe, the boy wizard of Harry Potter, has signed up for the final two films in the Harry Potter series.

Four films in the hit series, based on J.K.Rowling’s books, have already proved themselves at the box-office. The debut film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was released in the year 2001, with 11-year-old Daniel playing the boy wizard for the first time.

Each installment covers one school year at Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - making the title character about 18 at the end of the series.

The fifth film of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is slated for a July release. The shooting for the sixth film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be starting this September and will be in cinema halls next year.

The seventh and the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is not expected to be released until 2010 - the year Radcliffe turns 21. Although Rowling has finished writing the final novel this January and the book will go on sale in July.

The Harry Potter series has helped J.K.Rowling make a fortune out of the record sales till date.

But one person who has got the most benefit from Harry Potter series is the boy wizard, Daniel Radcliffe. He is now a global star.

Apart from the Harry Potter series, Daniel has appeared in a couple of films and television series. He has also signed on for the ITV drama My Boy Jack as Jack Kipling, son of author Rudyard Kipling. Filming is scheduled for July 2007.

Daniel Radcliffe is the youngest non-royal ever to have an individual portrait in Britain’s National Portrait Gallery, aged 16 at that time. On 13 April 2006, his portrait was unveiled as part of a new exhibition opening at London’s Royal National Theatre, then moved to the National Portrait Gallery where it is presently kept.

Hats off for the 17-year-old who is credited with more than 34 awards by various institutions for his magical acting talent.

The boy wizard indeed has the world in his magic spell.
