
In an unexpected accident a Broadway director, Daniel Sullivan fell off a trap door and injured himself badly.
The incident happened when he was directing a rehearsal for the Public Theater’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Central Park. It left him with four broken ribs and collapsed lung. The mishap made the officials cancel the production’s first preview at the Delacorte Theater.
The director, Daniel Sullivan is expected to begin rehearsal in a few days. Winner of Tony Award he has been recently busy in projects as Stuff Happens, Third, Intimate Apparel, Ten Unknowns and Dinner With Friends.
Sullivan is New York’s most acclaimed director and had represented on Broadway last season with the revival of Craig Lucas’ Prelude to a Kiss. This season he will direct the Broadway revival of The Homecoming that will have Ian McShane, Raul Esparza and Michael McKean.
His plays Rabbit Hole and Proof on Broadway have won him Pulitzers and before joining Broadways he was the artistic director of the Seattle Repertory Theater where he directed nearly 60 productions.
