The 57th annual American Cinema Editors’ Eddie Awards once again repeats the 57 year-history.

Paramount Vantage’s ‘Babel’ and Warner Bros. Pictures’ ‘The Departed’ shared the top drama honor, the only second tie in the history of the awards.

The first tie occurred in 1989, when ‘Rain Man’ shared the honors with ‘Mississippi Burning.’

Paramount pictures’ ‘Dreamgirls,’ took home the prize for best edited feature film, comedy or musical.

The awards ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton.

‘Babel’ editors Stephen Mirrione and Douglas Crise and ‘Dreamgirls’ editor Virginia Katz were first time Eddie winners.

Whereas ‘The Departed’ editor Thelma Schoonmaker added a fourth Eddie to her collection, she was awarded the same honor most recently in 2005 for ‘The Aviator.’

This is not it, she went on to win the Academy Award, the second of her career.

Par Vantage’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ edited by Jay Cassidy and Dan Sweitlik, took best edited documentary honors.

Alex Lamb of Chapman University took the prize in the Student Editing Competition, while, Lifetime Career Achievement honors were awarded to senior motion picture editors John Soh and Frank Urioste.
