Alien vs. Predator, or AVP, earned negative reviews from the film critics when released in 2004, but still managed to explode at the Box Office. More than $38 million poured in the first US opening weekend and the movie was at the top of the charts in the first week of its release. The film amassed $171.2 million worldwide and ranks as one of the most successful science-fiction films in history. And now the movie, severely loathed by the critics but equally loved by the public, is about to venture into its sequel.

Aliens vs. Predator-Requiem is slated for December 25, 2007 release and an international trailer has now been uploaded on the internet. The new video footage is about 2 minutes, 30 seconds long and features some highly exciting and enthralling scenes from the sci-fi thriller.

Gunnison, Colorado provides the backdrop of the movie where the human population is constantly on the decline as an aftermath of the seemingly never-ending war between the aliens and the predators. The Requiem story holds onto the essence of its prequel Alien vs. Predator but in this film, directed by brothers Colin and Greg Strause, there’s more intensity and better special effects.

The first trailer of the movie was supposed to be shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on July 27 but it wasn’t allowed since the movie is R-rated for violence, gore and language. The trailer was eventually put up for public display last month but the new international clip, that can be accessed from FilmWeb and AceShowBiz, is predicted to inspire the moviegoers worldwide and motivate them to go the theatres once the movie is released in December this year.
Images of the new movie suggest that both creatures, the aliens as well as the predators, have undergone some design changes and this element too is expected to give a new feel to the movie. In any case, although the script hardly appears to be a classic and is anticipated to get negative opinions from the critics, the sheer entertainment that it promises should keep the public wait in eager expectation for its release.
