Acclaimed actor Jim Carrey is all set to star in Universal Picture’s Sober Buddies, a comedy Carrey will produce with Stuber/Parent’s Scott Stuber and Mary Parent and Michael Peyser.

The script, written by Andrew Kurtzman, is about a software executive who loves to party hard. He is assigned the challenging task of keeping a court-appointed Sober Buddy (Carrey) under control during a crucial business trip to Las Vegas. A perfect plan falls apart when the Sober Buddy falls off the wagon.
Kurtzman has been writing the DreamWorks flick Mr. Peabody and Sherman which is based on the Jay Ward-created cartoon characters. He came up with the project as a pitch with Principal Entertainment’s Danny Sherman, who will be executive producer. The duo enunciated their idea to Carrey, who then took it forward to Stuber. Stuber then set it at Universal under the duo’s overall deal at the studio.
Carrey has not decided which film to go for next but is zeroing in on two or three roles which include the title character in the Tim Burton-directed “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” at Paramount; a gay prison escapee in the dark indie comedy “I Love You Phillip Morris,” written and directed by the “Bad Santa” team of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa; and a reluctant nursemaid to his ailing wife and her family in the Fox comedy “Me Time,” scripted by Ian Roberts and Jay Martel. This will possibly be followed by a possible strike next June.
The actor has earned commercial success as well as critical acclaim for his impressive performances in Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind besides some others.
Carrey’s fans have enough reason to cheer as the actor will be back in this promosing comedy.
