The folks who saw the recent theatrical trailer of The Simpsons Movie will be the most surprised lot once the film gets released.
According to James L. Brooks, Writer/Director/Producer of the movie, 70% of the trailer will not even feature in the final movie. Brooks admits it all started with people’s curiousity regarding the movie which made them roll out misleading trailers. Brooks told EW:
It started out as people wanting to know what it was about, and then we were having fun with it, putting out false story lines. We’ve revealed more with each successive trailer. We’ll continue to do that. We saw a trailer the other day, and somebody said 70 percent of the things in it - based on where we were eight weeks ago - are no longer in the movie, because we keep on fooling around.
Now, this is one amazing strategy adopted by Brooks and his crew to keep the interest of the fans alive. But if we think the other way round, the trailer may end up being 100% real and Brooks’ statement could be a publicity gimmick.
Anyway, the movie will be released on July 27th 2007, and the truth will be open to all.
