baftaawardsThe renowned British Bafta TV Awards has announced its nominees for the year 2006. The results will be made known at a ceremony later on May 7th.



Here are the lists of nominees :



BBC Charles Dickens’ Bleak House is weighing heavy with four nominations. Nominated for best drama serial, Gillian Anderson and Anna Maxwell Martin for best actress and Denis Lawson for best actor. The serial competes with Fingersmith, Funland and To the Ends of the Earth. Lucy Cohu, who played Princess Margaret in Channel 4’s ‘The Queen’s Sister’ also competes for best actress.



The Government Inspector, which depicted the David Kelly affair, has two nominations. Mark Rylance, who plays weapons inspector Dr Kelly is up for best actor.



Best single drama, Extras, Ricky Gervais’ follow-up to The Office, is also up for best sitcom.



ITV has just seven of the 76 nominations. The BBC has 47 and Channel 4 has 20, while Five and Sky has one.



Sky News and BBC Ten O’Clock News coverage of the July 7 attacks are up for TV news networks’ coverage award. The ITV Evening News team’s report on the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes is also nominated for best feature along with business reality show The Apprentice, starring Sir Alan Sugar.
